Today we were suppose to finish the Iroquoia Section of the Bruce Trail but our plans had to change. Cathy texted the night before that she saw on the Bruce Trail APP that the Kelso Conservation Area is closed due to Ash tree removal, and will not be re-opened until sometime in April 2016. :-( too bad. We have hiked 215 km of the Bruce Trail in sequential order so far, and this is the first time we have had to adjust. (and we were hoping that we could get our Iroquoia Crest for finishing :-)
We decided that we would start hiking the Toronto Section at the 2.5 km marker. This would leave us a 10 1/2 km hike to do in April to finish the Iroquoia Section and the first 2.5 km of the Toronto Section. We are starting the hike on Sixth Line which is just north of the 401. Directly across the road was the Halton Country Inn's golf course. We were hoping to find a bathroom here but "no luck" - we will have to rely on the good outdoors!!
In Speyside, at the corner of 15 Sideroad and Hwy #25 we ended our hike at this abandoned "Country Store".
We hiked for approximately 4 hours today, finishing at 2:30 p.m.. We were thankful that Jackie could join us by driving us to our start point in the morning and then pick us up again in the afternoon. We sure were happy to see her and her nice warm van! We are sad though that our friend Jackie has not been able to join us on our hikes this year, but thankful that she can still join in the before and after "van chats" It was another great day in the Outdoors with great friends!
