Puckering Lane & McClaren Road (16.8) to Escarpment Side Road & Airport Road (30.6) = 14 kms
32% What a beautiful day Saturday Oct 21st was. GORGEOUS weather for a late October day and fabulous for hiking. Although, some expressed during the hike that it could have been a little cooler. Haha who would think we would say that at this time of the year.
SHE IS BACK!!! Jackie was the leader of the pack today and in good hiking form!! We are thrilled that all 6 of us are hiking once again.
We actually made a group decision about this - moving forward ALL 6 of us have to be available to hike. So if one of us is sick, etc. we will cancel and reschedule our hike.
We are in now in the Cataract / Caledon East area of the Caledon Hills section of the Bruce Trail. Here is a summary of what we have done so far.
Niagara Section = 80 km
Iroquoia Section = 121.7 km
Toronto Section = 49.5 km
Caledon Section = 30.6 km or 70.8 km.
Another 40 km and we will be in the Dufferin Hi-Land Section.
We have hiked 282 km of the Bruce Trail so far.......32% to be exact........612 km to go to Tobermory!
This was our #31 hike.
We have been hiking for 5 years - since Sept 2012
And we have had great weather, horrible weather, challanging times, but most importantly we have had lots of laughs and good times!!
Enjoy our blog!

Although the terrain here is quite level and appears to be far from the edge of the Escarpment, the Trail is actually following the Caledon Meltwater Discharge Channel, a significant post-glacial feature. During the period of rapid melting at the end of the last glaciation, huge volumes of water, constrained by the Paris Moraine to the south, followed this route, and deposited millions of tonnes of gravel along the way, as witnessed by the large gravel pits both east and est of Highway 10 at the top of the Caledon Mountain.
Another great hike!
A few things we decided as a group today: our max we will hike in a day is 15 km; we always hike with all 6 of us; and we need to determine if we can hike 15 km and 15 km on a 2nd day. We only have a few times left where we will go out for the day, and then we will have to make an over-night out of it and hiking 2 days. CHEERS!
