On the Road Again!!
Saturday, November 16, 2013.
Gorgeous weather! Sunshine! Temperatures got up to about 14 degrees! Some of us got down to our t-shirts. Others wished they had worn t-shirts! We were very thankful to have such beautiful weather - this was the best weather we have had so far!
We hiked over 15 kms. today. We had to pay close attention to where we were walking, as the trail had a lot of rocks on it and they were covered with leaves.
We passed many vineyards and wineries. It is nice to see that we are still surrounded by so much agriculture land. We passed more people than we usually do on a hike, probably due to the nice weather but also I think because Ball's Falls is a popular area. There was a scout group just leaving Ball's Falls as we arrived, carrying all their camping gear - they were out for the weekend. Another man we passed, also with camping gear, was hoping to finish the trail and get to Queenston by Sunday. He started the trail in Tobermory, but stopped around Grimsby in 1997, and this year decided to finish it. It is always interesting to hear other's stories about the Bruce Trail and their experiences.
While hiking on the Niagara Bruce Trail, it is nice for us to see places that we have been before, and exciting to see new places that we have never seen! We have hiked 70 kms of the escarpment now, and there have been so many "wow" views for us.
We have spent about 25 hours together so far: hiking, sharing, laughing, supporting, encouraging! Good times!

We passed so many vineyards and a number of wineries on our hike today: Tawse Winery, Fielding Winery, the old Eastdell Winery (soon to open Mike Wier Winery), Organized Crime Winery. Our (or maybe only Sonya's) hope was that we would stop and have a tasting somewhere today.....but "hike, hike, hike" and at the end we were "tired, tired, tired" and not so interested anymore. :-)
